Action: Policies and Human Resources for Research (ERAWATCH) Action: European Foresight (FOR-ERA) Action: Industrial Research and Innovation (IRI) Success Story: First EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard. As part of its support to the implementation of the EU’s Investing in Research action plan, IPTS published the first EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard. It provides instructive, up-to-date comparisons between companies, sectors, and geographical areas, as well as a picture of the competitive situation of EU firms in the global R&D environment. 9/12

Action: Foresight on Information Society Technologies in Europe (FISTE) Action: Prospective Cybersecurity Activities (PRIDIS) Success Story: Study on “Biometrics at the Frontiers: Assessing the Impact on Society” requested by the European Parliament’s LIBE Committee. The study highlights a number of key issues to be taken into account when considering the large-scale implementation of biometric technologies. The overall message is that the introduction of biometrics is not just a technological issue. It poses challenges to the way our society is organised, challenges which need to be addressed in the near future if Europe is to shape the use of biometric technologies so as to derive maximum benefit from their deployment. 10/12

Action: Sustainable Agriculture (SUSTAG) Action: Life sciences and technologies in health and agro-food (LIFETECH Success Story: Scenarios for co-existence of genetically conventional and organic crops in European agriculture. Report. modified, What will be the levels of adventitious presence of GM crops in organic or conventional crops, with current farming practices if the share of GM crops increases to 10% or 50%? This study was done for three crops for which GM varieties are available (oilseed rape for seed production, maize for feed production and potatoes for consumption), and for several farm types (both organic and conventional) that were defined to cover the variability present in EU farming infrastructure. 11/12
