What is Team. X? • The concurrent engineering design team at the Jet Propulsion

What is Team. X? • The concurrent engineering design team at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. – Started in April 1995 – Improved the speed and quality of JPL’s new mission concepts. – More than 600 studies completed to date. – Consists of 17 discipline experts and one team leader.

Conclusions & Future Directions • Case study conducted using Spec. TRM in Team. X indicates that it’s feasible and useful to use this software within the team environment. • Several architectural/process changes need to made in order to adopt this tool. • Systems Engineers need to be trained to use this software. • In order to make the best use of Spec. TRM, we need to build libraries and knowledge-bases – Of various subsystem module designs • Including the rationale and traceability. • Including linkage to the requirements.
