Introduction • During 2020 two major changes are taking place on the infrastructure level for Analytics: 1. Upgrading the Analytics Database Architecture to Oracle Database In Memory 2. Upgrading the OBI (Oracle Business Intelligence) which is used by Analytics to OAS (Oracle Analytics Server) and Data Visualization (DV) © 2019 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 3

Oracle Database In Memory • The purpose of the move to Oracle Database In Memory is to improve performance. • The In Memory architecture includes optimizations to make running complex queries much faster than was previously possible. • At the current time (Feb. 2020) "Oracle Database in Memory" has been installed on instances NA 06 and NA 04. • Other instances will receive the "Oracle Database in Memory" throughout 2020. © 2019 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 5
Oracle Database In Memory • Before the decision was made to use the "Oracle Database in Memory" we partnered with a large live Alma Consortium to test it. This allowed us to first check if this change would be beneficial to the Alma user community. • The tests showed A. A significant improvement in the time reports ran B. The ability to successfully run reports which previously "timed-out" © 2019 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 6
Oracle Database In Memory • Before installing the "Oracle Database in Memory" on instances NA 06 and NA 04 we did "Before" tests so that we could see if "After" there were significant improvements. • The table on next slide shows some specific numbers from the network zone institutions of three different consortia, comparing the time taken to complete reports, both "Before" and "After". • Surely you will agree that the improvement in time to run the reports is extremely encouraging. © 2019 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 7

Upgrade to OAS (Oracle Analytics Server) and Data Visualization (DV) • The purpose of the upgrade to OAS (Oracle Analytics Server) and Data Visualization (DV) is provide a more modern and extensive set of tools for evidence based decision making. • Many new features are included, such as (but not only) • The ability to use an input file with Alma and Primo data in analytics • Perform Forecasts • Identify Trends • Many new visualizations © 2019 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 12
Upgrade to OAS (Oracle Analytics Server) and Data Visualization (DV) • Examples of the OAS (Oracle Analytics Server) and Data Visualization (DV) as used with Alma and Primo Analytics can be seen in these blogs. • The OAS (Oracle Analytics Server) and Data Visualization (DV) is currently (Feb. 2020) being used by 14 institutions as early adopters. • Other institutions will receive the OAS (Oracle Analytics Server) and Data Visualization (DV) throughout 2020. © 2019 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 13
