Aid Priority 1: Education Objective • Complement and contribute to the School Sector Reform Plan (SSRP) Government of Nepal national sector reform and development programme • Build on significant progress in expanding access to ECD and basic education and in increasing equity, particularly access for girls and children from disadvantaged and marginalised backgrounds • Overcome the significant challenges in supporting children from hard to reach groups to go to and stay in school, and in improving the quality of teaching and learning • Promote NSA’s important role in supporting the achievement of the EFA and MDG targets linked to education in Nepal 4 EUROPEAN UNION

EU-Nepa • Mainstay of Nepal's economy (employs over 2/3 of the population + accounts for 34% of GDP). • 66% of rural households engaged in or depend on agriculture. • But still based on low-value cereals and subsistence production with a mere 13% of output traded in markets. • Thus a prime source of livelihood to the majority of Nepali but still unable to lift the large farming population out of poverty, under nutrition and food insecurity. • Significant potential of several high value commodities such as horticulture, livestock, fisheries, spices, and medicals and aromatic plants. Checking process takes place before signing a contract => arithmetical errors, inaccuracies or unrealistic costs may lead to a change of the amount of the grant.
