French degrees n LMD system Licence-Master-Doctorant Bachelor's-Master's-Doctorate n This system standardizes the levels and organizes recognition of the degrees in the different countries. n It makes educational mobility easier in Europe and elsewhere. 7
French degrees n LMD degrees are obtained completing a certain number of semesters. n Each semester awards up to 30 ECTS (European Credits Transfer System) credits n ECTS can be transferred to other countries. 8

Degrees Recognition n French higher education diploma is guaranteed by the State n Certified French Ministry of Education ("diplôme visé") or titles registered on the RNCP (French Directory of Professional Certifications). n Various "Grandes Ecoles“ certified by independent organisations issuing accreditations or labels. 14
Degrees Recognition n Each institute defines its own admission criteria n Only the host institute is authorized to accept or refuse an applicant. n Mutual agreements to recognize degrees may nonetheless make requests for equivalence easier. 15
Attestation/ Equivalence n The ENIC-NARIC centre may provide an attestation certifying to the French value of a degree obtained from a foreign educational system. The procedure costs 70 Euros per request. n The ENIC-NARIC European network also lets you certify the value for your country of the years you spent studying in France. 16
French Language Requirement n French is not required if program offered is in English n For courses in French, foreign students must present a document attesting to their level of French. n You can obtain one by sitting an official French exam or test, such as DELF, DALF, TCF or TEF. 17
French Language Requirement n Level B 1 or B 2 is recommended for studying at the undergraduate and Master's level n Some may require a higher level C 1 or C 2, for specific program. 18
