Before starting your application, you must: Have your identity documents notarized by a lawyer or notary public: a) Two pieces of ID (birth certificate, passport or driver’s license) with your FULL name (no initials, must include middle name if applicable) b) Marriage or change of name certificate, if applicable If you have already submitted TWO notarized identification documents as part of an employed student nurse (ESN) application you do not need to resubmit them, unless you have changed your name. Applying to BCCNM Apply Online: Registration for B. C. Provisional RN Registration Authorizes you to practice before you have passed NCLEX-RN • Use title RN(P) or RN Provisional. • Granted for maximum one year – no extensions • Must write and pass NCLEX-RN • Will expire after 2 nd unsuccessful exam attempt and employer will be informed. National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) Application Process: Step 1: Register at: www. pearsonvue. com/nclex when eligible and prepared to write Step 2: Receive Authorization to Test (ATT) from Pearson Vue (Note: the ATT is valid for 90 days, no extensions) Step 3: Choose writing center location and schedule date within the 90 -day validity period stated on ATT. Step 4: Write exam Step 5: Exam Results emailed by BCCNM within 1 week of exam date PASS – Includes result and information about next steps in registration process FAIL – Includes result only. Follow-up email within 1 week of initial result email that includes a performance report and information about provisional registration and eligibility to retake the exam. WHAT IF…? I don’t want to write the exam right away? Ø Do not register with Pearson Vue unless you plan to write the exam within 90 days I want to request special accommodations? Ø Contact Christy before registering with Pearson Vue. You cannot receive ATT until all required documentation received and request approved I fail the NCLEX? Ø 1 st Fail – Must notify employer. Eligible to write again after 45 days Ø 2 nd Fail – PR Expires. Eligible to write again after 45 days AND after PR has expired Ø 3 rd+ Fail – No limit to number of attempts.
