Information Classification: PUBLIC Work Allowance Some Universal Credit claimants are eligible for a Work Allowance (WA). This is the amount a claimant can earn before the single taper rate of 63% is applied to their earnings. Claimants who don’t have Limited Capability for Work, or don’t have responsibility for one or more children or a qualifying young person(s), are not eligible for a WA. In any other case, one of two WAs will apply: £ 293 per month for those with housing costs included in their UC award £ 515 per month for those without housing costs included in their UC award* (*Claimants in receipt of large amounts of housing support receive a higher award of Universal Credit than those with low or no housing support. In order to address this and target resources fairly, claimants who receive no support with their housing costs are allowed to keep more of their earnings without loss of benefits. This is done by setting higher work allowances in these circumstances. )

Information Classification: PUBLIC Universal Credit claimants are eligible to be referred to a Kickstart Scheme job if they meet all of the following criteria, they are: • aged 16 to 24 • eligible for Universal Credit • currently unemployed (nil earnings) • not in an apprenticeship • have a claimant commitment in place • Provides paid jobs for Universal Credit claimants aged 16 to 24 who are deemed at risk of long-term unemployment and not currently employed. • Claimants can only be referred to the Kickstart positions and referrals to a Kickstart scheme job can be made up to 31 st December 2021. • Claimant must make application. • Pre Kickstart Support is also available

JETS support will provide light touch, personalised support for a maximum of 6 months. Information Classification: PUBLIC Restart : Coming soon… • New Restart Scheme, Universal Credit claimants who have been out of work for between 12 to 18 months giving them enhanced support to find jobs. • DWP plan to commence the Restart Scheme on 28 June 2021, with referrals to providers starting from 12 July 2021 To be eligible the claimant must: • Been In receipt of UC for between 12 -18 months (counting time in receipt of New Style JSA) • Been in the IWSR for 12 months uninterrupted (counting time in receipt of New Style JSA) • Have no sustained earnings at the point of referral • Have the right to work in the UK. • Reside in England or Wales. • Be of working age (16* to State pension age), • Not be currently participating in other DWP Contracted Employment Provision,
