UN-Habitat Communications - Implementation of action points from 2020 1. Regular updates for Member States • • Monthly updates sent to Member States on UN-Habitat’s financial situation Quarterly updates through the Urban Impact newsletter with emphasis on results, catalysing work, outcomes, and impact stories 2. Effective Communication with Member States • Secretariat has streamlined communications to reduce number of emails and condense information • Links to the Governance website are now mainly used instead of attachments 3. Regular Regional Meetings • • 2 | The Executive Director held dialogues with all the Regional Groups in 2020 Planning for Regional Dialogues in 2021 underway: advice sought from members on frequency

Making UN-Habitat’s impact visible • • • Refocusing UNH efforts on impact communications Ø Informal training and dissemination of communications guidelines for staff Ø Roster of experienced editors to enhance the clarity, timeliness and effectiveness of reports Resulting in increased number and quality of impact stories in accessible, non technical language illustrating normative and operational aspects UNH value proposition document (UN-Habitat at its Core) in final draft Ø Clear links between normative and operational, in support of SDGs and 5 Ps 5. Increased website and social platform outreach • • • Continuing to upscale and expand social media platforms Website: improved search functions, restructure of publications’ page, working on content management system and planned interactive map Governance pages: simplifying navigation, removal of redundant information and faster loading 6. Global access to information • 3 | Urban Agenda Platform launched to monitoring progress and provide a repository for National Reports on the New Urban Agenda, World Urban Forum Declared Actions, urban best practices, training materials and tools

Increasing momentum and maximizing visibility for UN-Habitat • Strategic communications mapping messages, events, and outreach through 2023 and next UN -Habitat Assembly (2023) • Creating momentum around UN-Habitat’s urban mandate at World Economic Forum, Commonwealth Meeting, High Level Political Forum, SG keynote on Future of Cities, General Assembly, High Level Meeting (on NUA), WUF 11, Quadrennial Report, UN-Habitat Assembly and onwards 2. Raise profile towards WUF 11 • Countdown and global mobilization for WUF 11 (June 2022) in Katowice, Poland • World Urban Forum and World Cities Report 2022 to complement and amplify theme 3. Focus on urban climate action in 2021 • • 4 | Climate Action for Cities campaign including Urban Thinkers’ Campuses Innovate 4 Cities Conference with Global Covenant of Mayors Spotlight on urban climate through Urban October and COP 26 Mobilize support for RISE-Up Flagship programme on resilience for urban poor

COVID-19 • Pandemics and Cities Report will be launched ahead of Executive Board • Positioning as knowledge leader, share urban COVID data from Citi. IQ and other platforms, align with SG’s Policy Brief on COVID 5. Enhancement transparency • Upgrade open. unhabitat. org for compliance with International Aid Transparency Initiative standards and with the UN Development Group 6. Improved interaction with Member States 5 | • Proposal to expand the monthly financial updates with important information for Member States e. g. country activities • Engagement with communications focal points in Embassies
