Industry Partner(s) Project Title Project Team Members PI / Institution Co-I (s) / Institution Status of Negotiations Indicate if parties have completed project plan, begun negotiation of term sheet, or are already negotiating contract terms proper. Proposed IAF Funding S$ XX months Duration of Project* *: Given the intent of IAF-ICP to support strategic R&D projects with industry, by applying and commercialising public sector research capabilities, IPs and technologies towards industry-relevant challenges, the maximum duration of IAF-ICP projects should not exceed 3 years (36 months)
Industry Alignment Fund – Industry Collaboration Projects (IAF-ICP) LETTER OF INTENT Please answer all questions below directly, providing all necessary and pertinent information within the boxes that will be useful in assessment. Please limit the responses to 5 slides, calibri size 14. 1) DESCRIBE THE PROPOSAL AND THE OPPORTUNITIES AND/OR PROBLEMS THAT THE PROPOSAL WILL ADDRESS What does the project try to do E. g. COMPANY ABC will work with UNIVERSITY OR RESEARCH INSTITUTE XYZ to build a lab that will focus on building AI algorithms, blockchain-enabled IOT sensors etc. Aims to hire XX employees (of which YY will be Research, Scientists and Engineers, and ZZ will be non-research staff focusing on (roles e. g. marketing/finance). List the PI, Co-Is and team members involved from the research team. Description of opportunity (e. g. identify the target market – new/niche/mature etc - for the intended technology) E. g. There is currently an unmet focus on explainable machine learning models, which will become increasingly important as consumers demand to know how the AI black box makes its recommendation. Highlight the implications of the opportunities: There will be significant economic benefits (estimated to be $XXX) arising from this opportunity. Description of problem E. g. Currently, the COMPANY or INDUSTRY faces an inefficient production method that is time-consuming and labourintensive; e-logistics system that is unable to handle orders during peak periods etc. Highlight the implications of the problem: these have resulted in e. g. unmet orders, higher defects rates, reduced competitiveness etc.

Please limit the responses to 5 slides, calibri size 14. 2) DESCRIBE THE COMPETING TECHNOLOGIES IN THE INTENDED APPLICATION AND MARKET, AND HOW THE PROPOSAL WILL ACHIEVE A SUPERIOR OUTCOME COMPARED TO THE COMPETITION. Superior Outcome could be defined as: What is new about the proposed approach and why will this new approach succeed better than the existing ones? 3) DESCRIBE HOW WILL SUCCESS LOOK LIKE IN THIS PROJECT? What are the objective and measurable criteria to assess if the project is successful e. g. attributes of the working prototypes? (Even if these details are not ready at LOI stage, the Full Proposal should include details on milestones and description of working prototypes). What will the product, process or service which the project intends to deliver look like at (1) the mid-term review mark; and (2) the end of the project?

Describe how the proposed technology will support the transition roadmap and or growth strategies of the company. How will company enhance its R&D capabilities arising from this project? How will company be able to distinguish itself from its competitors arising from this project? (Secondary consideration) Benefits to other key stakeholders* Identify the key stakeholders in Singapore (either industry players or government agencies) who will benefit from the technology – to highlight if these players are willing to help to seed further R&D collaborations post-project completion, or support overseas expansion plans (i. e. downstream benefits). *This segment may have to be filled up jointly together with government agencies who have better oversight of the interrelationships between ecosystem players.
