2018 -19 Course Description The goal of this class is to introduce students to technology and related job opportunities. Technology is when people use the information and resources available to solve problems. Almost everything in our daily lives somehow involves technology! It is important to teach students to be competent in the ways we use and manipulate technology to meet the needs of society. This course teaches practical skills for life and the workplace. Students will learn to solve problems, communicate ideas, the proper use of hand power tools, as well as digital technology. Units Covered: Safety: working in the shop and using tools properly Communication: measuring and reading/creating shop drawings Construction: the basic building principles and their use in applications like bridges and houses Energy: the types and forms of energy and their use in things like automobiles and rockets Manufacturing: the tools and processes used to make everyday items CAD/CAM: (Computer Aided Design & Manufacturing) using computers to help design and create everything from houses to hat racks What’s Required? Students must come to class every day with a good attitude, a good work ethic, and safety in mind! At this time there are no course fees or materials required.
