Guiding questions …. like, but not limited to … • What stylistic devices are used to convey ideas, attitudes and feelings? • How does the narrator’s point of view influence the reader’s understanding of the text? • What is the main theme or idea in this text and how has it been developed? • What atmosphere is the writer trying to create in the text?
So think … • Organisation – use that 20 minutes wisely • Think Context • Think Content
Context • • • Think of the 5 Ws Who wrote it? When was it written? Why was it written – writer’s purpose? Where is it from? What are you looking at? What is the writer exploring
Content • What can you highlight about: • Themes and how they are explored? • Plot of the story or form and structure of the poem • Literary, rhetorical or poetic devices being used?
