Time for a change… Moving away from committee format Encourage those still interested in moving forward with concepts developed to contact their chair Focus on the economic development aspects of wind How can we better promote the policy, infrastructure, permitting, manufacturing, and educational attributes of Indiana to make the wind industry flourish in our state?
EWITS Eastern Wind Integration & Transmission Study (EWITS) NREL, w/ private partners, modeled four scenarios Rigorous tech review to model the resource, analyze transmission requirements, and how that wind can then be integrated onto the grid with other generation sources ww. nrel. gov/wind/systemsintegration/ewits. html
Local Wind Economic Development Analysis Multiple phases (estimation, rectification, and publication) Initial phase: Gross estimates utilizing JEDI model complete roughly shows that just over $2. 1 billion has been invested in these projects; potential investment is $8. 2 billion Approximately $370 million spent locally during construction Annually operating expenses expected to be near $360 million of which $3. 1 million returns to the landowners in lease payments and $6. 6 million will be spent locally on operations and maintenance Second phase: Attempt to verify that the information is in the ballpark Consultation with developers, local officials, and landowners All information remains anonymous Third phase: Take accumulated data and produce paper Will be sent to those involved for review prior to phase four publication and distribution Will contribute Wind Turbine Demand Study for the Great Lakes’ region Need to something similar for small wind
