In the 7 th grade my teacher announced

In the 7 th grade, my teacher announced her plan for our class to present a play to the whole school. “Auditions are tomorrow, ” she said. At that moment, I said to myself: “I’m going to be a star! I’m sure that she will give me a main role, and I will be a star! When she announced the cast, I did not get a main role…in fact, I got no role! I couldn’t believe it. It was incredible! Until that moment, I highly respected her as a very intelligent person, but when she didn’t perceive my talent …I knew I had misjudged her.
But that’s not the worst. The worst was that she gave a role to my friend, Don Walker? !? ! Have you ever seen a picture of Don Walker? And then came the lowest moment of all: she assigned me the job of. . .
Finally came the day of the presentation … I knew Don would blow it, and I couldn’t wait to see it!
He only had to enter from SR carrying a pipe wrench, walk to CS, say one line, and disappear to SL. How more simple could it be? Don was going to blow it!
He entered…walked to CS … and by mistake dropped the wrench. As he picked it up, he adlibbed a line …
Mrs. Lummus: “Don was the star of the show!” But since then, I’ve thought much about Don, because I came to understand that some of the heroes of the Bible were just like Don Walker: a nobody, who became a significant nobody.
POINT: they had very small roles: they entered from SR, came to CS, said their line, brought their prop, and then exited. Although they had very small roles, what they did had a significant effect on others and on what God was doing in the world. I want to look at some “Don Walkers” of the Bible, to learn some lessons about our roles as
g n i m. . . Co Soon … X X I’d like to dramatize that by announcing some new “movies” opening soon

Very few of us ever will be a star: most of us have very small roles: we are nobodies who enter the scene. . . set up the action. . . provide a prop that helps the action … or a place where things can happen. We walk to center stage, say our lines, & then exit. Though we are not stars, we can have a great impact on others’ lives. We are insignificant actors … nameless nobodies on the stage of this world, simply trying to scratch out our pleasant simple parts in the work of Heaven.
