Thought bomb 1. In pairs, you have 30 seconds each to provide an answer 2. Connect with another pair, and share your answers in 30 seconds 3. Use the Thought Bombs- with information about the scenario added in. You can change your mind! 4. Pass thought Bombs around the room, literally read, put back in the ball and throw around the room 5. Vote in your for who you will save.

Be persuasive 1. Now prepare a persuasive speech about why your person should be saved (use techniques!) 2. Students should use Hexagons (around 6) to write their speech 3. Within each hexagon you must use a language feature - such as, rhetorical question, hyperbole, alliteration, repetition, fact and statistic, opinion, emotive language 4. Now add connectives between each hexagon by writing a connective on a post-it and placing it alongside the speech 5. Now present your speech

News Report In threes, prepare a five minute news report about an event from Animal Farm. One in the studio, one roving reporter and one eye witness. No scripts!

Balloon Debate you take on the role of a character from Animal Farm. You are in a balloon, which is sinking and needs to loose weight so that the people in it can survive. You have about three to five minutes to put your arguments across to the audience and to your fellow balloonists. You must be persuasive, convincing and be prepared to justify why the others should be thrown out and why you should stay in! 1 st You will work in a small group of up to 5. Listen to each other’s speeches – without interruption Then, when you have heard a person’s speech you can ask questions or make (polite!) comments. From that first group you vote for one winner. 2 nd The class come together into a circle after all the students have voted in their group. The winners then deliver their speeches again and compete to be the overall winner and survivor. You are allowed to make a dying speech – if you are thrown out!
