Factors Influencing Success of Expatriate Managers • A person who does not adapt well to change is more likely to have difficulty adjusting to work and living in another culture. • Persons desiring an expatriate position will be more happy that others who take the position only for reasons of career advancement. • Expatriates with an understanding of the host country’s national culture will know what they are getting into. • Persons with the knowledge and skills required for successful job performance will have less stress on the job. • Interactions with people on and off the job are likely to be significant factors in whether an expatriate position is successful.
