IMPORTANCE OF VOLUNTEER AND STUDENT WORK EXPERIENCE
VOLUNTEERING • Are you looking for a job but don’t have the experience you need? But you can’t get experience because you can’t get a job? • Volunteer in a place where you will be completing tasks similar to your job interests • Do you need more skills or a better network so you can find work? • Keep a list of the contacts you make volunteering • This may help you when you apply for future jobs (‘it’s all about who you know’) or they can act as your references • Are you thinking of making a change in your career but unsure about what you want to do? • Volunteering can help you try out different fields of employment without making a drastic lifestyle change (i. e. changing programs)
