COLLABORATION WITH WIOA PARTNERS AND WITH BUSINESS &INDUSTRY WIOA was created to provide state and local areas the flexibility to collaborate across systems in an effort to better address the employment and skills needs of current employees, jobseekers, and employers. WIOA accomplishes this by prescribing a stronger alignment of the workforce, education, and economic development systems. 1/3/2022 9

SUCCESSFUL WIOA PROPOSALS Ø Research, Research. Ø Convince the funder that you know what you’re doing by demonstrating a clear understanding of the need in your community and by submitting a strong programmatic proposal. Ø Answer every question in order in a clear, concise manner. Ø Use appropriate terminology and demonstrate that you understand terms used. Ø Prior to submission, have someone else (an educated neophyte) read the proposal for sense and clarity. 1/3/2022 11
INTEGRATING EDUCATION AND TRAINING Ø Dual enrollment is required for occupational and adult education training components. Ø Use vocabulary and content from occupational component in teaching basic skills. Ø Have regularly scheduled meetings with all instructors. Ø Staff member must regularly check on all IET students to ensure that they are attending all classes and don’t have barriers to success. 1/3/2022 12
SUSTAINING COLLABORATION WITH STAKEHOLDER GROUPS Ø Develop positive, professional relationship. Ø Learn about their organization – who they are, what they do, how they do it, how they evaluate their program, etc. Ø Develop a presentation about your program and include how your program can help them meet their goals. Ø Communicate on a regular basis with collaborators through meetings, advisory boards, etc. and invite them to special events. 1/3/2022 13
