PLANNING ITEMS 8 -HOUR OZONE • Imperial County is one of the 11 marginal areas that did not meet the 2008 ozone standard by the July 20, 2015 attainment date and was reclassified as Moderate. • Reclassified areas must attain the 2008 ozone standards by the Moderate area attainment date of July 20, 2018. • 2008 8 -Hour SIP is due January 1, 2017. RULE DEVELOPMENT Rules Rule 804 - Open Areas • Adopted in November 8, 2005 • Amended April 12, 2016 • Amendments include: implementation of BACM • Includes required elements to improve the rule and help meet federal requirements. Rule 214. 2 – Paving Unpaved Public Roads Emission Reduction • The Air District developed a Programmatic Environmental Impact Report (PEIR). • Allows for the voluntary paving of unpaved public roads for the purpose of generating Emission Reduction Credits (ERC’s). • Important element of the APCD’s New Source Review (NRS) program. • The Rule 214. 2 and is currently in the public comment period.

BORDER ITEMS U. S. EPA Grant - Border 2020 Obtained the EPA grant in June 2016 • For the continuance of the AQTF, Media Campaign, and for the new AQI Campaign. • $2 Million Grant. The amount is subject to annual Federal Budget re-appropriation. (First year allotment was $236 K) • AQTF • Since 2008 under Border 2012 • Bi-national Task Force • Media Campaign • BECC/EPA Grant in 2011 • High Frequency Radio and Television Transmission Burning of tires, trash, fireworks, and wood. • AQI Awareness Campaign • Grant for $38, 000 • Advertisements in high frequency local television and radio stations. Viewers will be informed of the current air quality and the air quality forecast
