3 Formen von Imperfekt Regelmäßig, unregelmäßig, gemischt – Wie bei Perfekt! Wenn ein Verb im Perfekt unregelmäßig ist, dann ist es auch im Imperfekt unregelmäßig, usw. The most difficult part is remembering what the stem changes are for the irregular and mixed verbs. A dictionary will help you with this.

Suggestions for learning stem changes: Start by making a list of the most common verbs you use. Be sure to add all the verbs from the current chapter. Use a dictionary to find the stem changes. Verben mit Präfixen: Treat separable and inseparable prefix verbs the same as you would in present tense. If the prefix is inseparable, it stays with the main part of the verb. If it is separable, it goes to the end of the sentence. The base of the verb determines if it is regular or irregular. Ex. “abfahren” is irregular because “fahren” is irregular. Maria kaufte in Hawaii ein. (einkaufen kaufte…ein) Matthias besuchte einen alten Freund in Honolulu. (besuchen besuchte)
