Imperfect Tense AR Verbs Notes In Spanish there

Imperfect Tense -AR Verbs

Notes In Spanish there are two simple past tenses: the preterite and the imperfect. The preterite is used to state an action that began and ended at a specific time in the past. The imperfect is used to describe a habitual or repeated action in the past.

Notes In English, the preterite tense often makes the verb end in “-ed. ” For example, I walked to school this morning. In English, the imperfect tense often translates into “was/were ______ing, “used to ______, ” or “would (meaning used to) ____”. For example, I was walking to school, when a dog bit me. I used to work at the swimming pool. When I was young, I would tease my little sister.

Notes How to form an –ar verb in the imperfect tense: 1. Drop the infinitive ending –ar 2. Find the subject (person) of the sentence. 3. Add the appropriate imperfect tense ending. -aba -ábamos -aban
