IMPARFAIT • Imparfait also expresses past actions – Things you USED to do – More than once or over a period of time • To form the imparfait follow 3 steps – Step 1: Put the verb in present tense nous form – Step 2: Drop the ‘ons’ to form the stem – Step 3: Add the imparfait ending that agrees with subject

IMPARFAIT • Imparfait endings Je ______ ais Tu ______ ais Il/elle ____ ait nous ______ions vous ______ iez ils/elles ____ aient • Only 1 irregular stem in all of imparfait – Etre -> ét – Example • J’ étais jeune = I used to be young

EXAMPLES • Manger – Mangeons -> mange – Je mangeais du fromage. • Venir – Venons ->ven – Nous venions au zoo. • Jouer – Jouons -> jou – Ils jouaient aux petites voitures. • Choisir – Choisissons -> choisiss – Elle choisissait des livres faciles.
