Professional Perspective �A fresh outlook �It’s more about the numbers, not the kids �Doesn’t have a personal connection �Looks at it more from the stand point of a business �Maybe better with money �Might be able to put a “real life” perspective on the curriculum.

Teacher Perspective �Knows the in’s and out’s of how a school is run �Can be empathetic with the teachers �Has a better grasp of the politics behind education �Standardized testing � Budget �Has a closer relationship to the students The old additive, “Why would I buy a steak from a vegetarian? ”

But wait that’s just the beginning…

In 1992 a company called Education Alternatives Inc. (EAI) took over nine public schools in the Baltimore area.

They were able to… Treat the school more like a business Instead of a government facility �Over saw teacher and faculty training �Fixed budget issues so the school could actually make money �Faculty is trained by other faculty and administrators �Budget is usually handled by superintendent (someone who has never had any profit/loss experience) and school board �PTA’s, newsletters and their children are the only information � The government invested about 7. 5 million in the school because of the promise of future profit �Treats parents, students and taxpayers more like costumers
