Il Partitivo ¡ L'articolo partitivo (partitive article) is used to indicate imprecise or approximate quantities. L'articolo partitivo it is used to indicate a part of a whole or an undetermined quantity or number.
Il Partitivo Di + definite article = some Ho degli amici simpatici. I have some nice friends. Mangio della frutta. I eat some fruit. Not used in negative or interrogative sentences.
