Should we care about the future of the world? If today is a typical day on planet earth, humans will: § Add 15 million tons of carbon to the atmosphere §(1 ton is the same in weight as a medium size car) § Destroy 115 square miles of tropical rain forest § Create 72 square miles of desert § Make between 40 - 100 species extinct § Erode 71 million tons of top soil § Add 2700 tons of CFCs to the atmosphere § Increase the human population by 263, 000.
IGCSE Geography results Historically, students have always performed well in Geography. Over the past 6 years, at least 96% of students have attained a C grade or above and in some years 100% of students have attained a C grade or above. In addition to this, between 60% and 77% of students usually attain an A* or A grade.
Geography links well with other subjects for future careers:
Examination Paper 1 – Content (1 hour 45 minutes) Candidates choose 3 questions from a choice of 6. Questions are out of 25 marks and are broken up into short and longer type answers. (45%) Paper 2 – Skills (1 hour 30 minutes) Data response and Map work questions (27. 5%) Paper 3 – Coursework – One 2000 Word written report (27. 5%)
