Why Twitter? … Because : • Over 320 M active users =25% from EU (total nb registered 646 M) • News travels faster than in traditional media channel • Your tweet stands a chance to gain visibility and make an impact • You can interact in real time with EC, MAs, beneficiaries & stakeholders • You can interact/engage faster, in real time and with no hierarchical barriers with any people )live event reporting, meetings, conferences, debates( • You can link up with a community sharing your interests • BUT you need to see if you also have your "public" on twitter
Objectives? • Engage to share your content : retweets, favourites, replies (drive your conversation and engage in others( • Drive people to your website or other platforms • Video views: get people to watch your videos using Twitter’s native video player > upload directly (up to 30 sec better) • Grow your community (try Twibes) • Chat at the best possible time of the day – scheduling (Buffer, Engagor, Hootsuite, Tweetdeck( • Keep relevant contacts informed in real time (MAs, REPs, EDICs, EC DGs, etc)
How? • Notify people of interest (under photo) @ DGs, Commissioners, REPs, EDICs, influencers, etc • Help others find you and engage in conversation on relevant hashtags (#EUinmy. Region, #ESIFunds, #EUUrban. Agenda, #Euregions, etc) • Create DM groups with ppl you want to keep informed with your content and ask to retweet (up to 50 accounts in each) • Manage, schedule, follow your activity: Create streams of interest (in hootsuite, tweetdeck, etc) • Subscribe to existing lists of accounts (eg: https: //twitter. com/EU_Regional/lists https: //twitter. com/EU_Social/lists) • • Check who your 'preferred' influencers follow and follow them Use free rights photos (eg: pixabay. com) Analyse your activity with https: //analytics. twitter. com Map your audience (tweepsmap)
Language • • • @ reply: a comment aimed at 1 user but visible to everyone DM: a private message sent to another user (not visible to others) RT: sharing someone else’s post MT: Modifying and sharing someone else’s post by mentioning them Twitterati: "influencers" with massive audiences – engage! Twitter search: vital way to track comments Tweetlater: schedule posts for future times Twilerts: like google alerts for Twitter Twitt. Pic: share pictures Twiddeo: share video clips • NEW: 140 characters of text alone not including anymore photos, videos, GIFs, polls, Quote Tweets, @names & NO more “. @”
