DL Control Channel Link Adaptation q q DL unicast control channel should be power controlled by UL CINR feedback Physical CINR feedback § § Unicast control channel power should be determined based on mean and variance of DL CINR over subcarriers (both included in physical CINR feedback) Mean of CINR over subcarriers does not reflect the channel quality accurately enough • § Physical CINR should include both mean and variance of CINR over subcarriers • q For a same mean CINR, different fading profiles (variance of CINR over subcarriers) may require very different control channel transmit power to meet a certain FER target Variance of CINR can be fed back less frequently, or with lower resolution Effective CINR feedback § Unicast control channel power should be determined based on control channel MCS, effective CINR feedback, DL transmit power corresponding to the effective CINR feedback. 2
DL Data Channel Link Adaptation q q DL data channel link adaptation is done through DL MCS allocation Physical CINR feedback § § Unicast control channel power should be determined based on mean and variance of DL CINR over subcarriers (both included in physical CINR feedback) Mean of CINR over subcarriers does not reflect the channel quality accurately enough • § Physical CINR should include both mean and variance of CINR over subcarriers • q For a same mean CINR, different fading profiles (variance of CINR over subcarriers) may require very different control channel transmit power to meet a certain FER target Variance of CINR can be fed back less frequently, or with lower resolution Effective CINR feedback § Indicate DL MCS 3
UL Link Adaptation q UL Control Channel § UL control channel is power controlled by the serving BS • q MS transmit power is determined by the power control command from serving BS UL Data Channel § § UL data channel link adaptation is done through UL MCS allocation UL data channel transmit power is determined by • • • Number of data subcarriers MCS allocation from UL scheduling UL control channel transmit power provides a reference point corresponding to the UL control channel MCS 4
