Plot (definition) • Plot is the organized pattern of events that make up a story.
1. Exposition • Happens at the beginning of a story. • Characters and setting are introduced. • Conflict is introduced.
2. Rising Action • Conflict(s) is developed.
3. Climax • This is the turning point of the story. • The main character will change in some way.
4. Falling Action • All loose ends of the plot are tied up. • Problem is solved.
5. Resolution/Denouement • The story comes to a reasonable ending.

Shrek Climax: He meets donkey and makes it to the tower. He fights the dragon, and saves princess Fiona. Shrek starts to fall for Fiona. Rising Action: Lord Farquad is threatening to take his land, unless he saves the princess locked away in the tower. Exposition: In a kingdom, a long time ago. There lived an Ogre in a dirty swamp. He is green and grumpy. Falling Action: Shrek takes her back to marry Lord Farquad, but it is revealed that she is also an Ogre. Now, they can be together. Dragon saves the day. Resolution: They lived happily ever after.
