Y 9 Football – Passing & Crossing Types of passing Lofted pass - Approach at an angle -Shoulders and hips face target, planting non-kicking foot besides the ball pointing at target. - Draw back kicking foot and extend it with the knee of the kicking foot under centre of the ball with the laces. - Generate back spin to stop the ball rolling out of play Swerve pass - Strike ball on the outside - Strike across the line to generate spin Driven pass - Strike in the centre - Use laces part of foot - Keep body weight forward and knee over ball to keep the ball low Crossing is an integral part of football. This can be done from a dead ball situation such as a corner or free kick or can be done in open play. Every team will work on crossing in training before a match and they will focus on how to defend crosses but how to attack them to score goals too.
