GENERAL TRANSFER INFORMATION n What is the transfer process for students? ¨ Identifying major to acceptance notification ¨ Please refer to “Your Transfer Made Painless” handout n Admissions decisions: ¨ Based on student’s transcript up to last semester completed before applying ¨ Acceptance is contingent upon receipt of final transcripts n There is no one policy- Transfer policies vary by colleges and majors and often change. 3
GENERAL TRANSFER INFORMATION n n 4 -yr colleges reserve the right to change academic policies affecting transfer at any time. Free electives are important ¨ Satisfy n n n BA/BS requirements Our Biology, Chemistry, Engineering Science transfer very well. Forensic Science requires Science Transfer Chemistry The Bachelors Degree is made up of: Major, General Education, and Free Electives. 4
n GPA Requirements: n Transfer Student: H. S. graduate & completed at least 12 creds. before entering RU. ¨ SAT’S 3. 2 (RC, LC, DC) 2. 5 University College are not required in this case. 5
RUTGERS n n n Must have Algebra 2 (MAT 014) proficiency MAT 123/124 or higher – best for day divisions: Rutgers College, Livingston College, & Douglass College Foreign Language: do not repeat same language & level at MCC studied in HS. ¨ RU wants new learning experience ¨ If taking same language as in HS, start level at MCC or take different language n at intermediate Psychology Major: Pre-calc. required 6

RUTGERS n UNIVERSITY COLLEGE ¨ Admits transfer students if applicant’s cum. gpa for a minimum of 24 creds. = 2. 5 or higher. ¨ Applicants who have completed the Associate Degree with minimum gpa of 2. 0 are automatically admitted. ¨ Core Requirements: encourages courses from different disciplines - can take max. 2 courses from same discipline to satisfy the 9 cred. requirement in each: HUM, SS, Math & Natural Science. 11

RUTGERS n School of Arts & Sciences (SAS) Effective Fall ’ 07: Douglass, Livingston, Rutgers, & University Colleges – combining to create: School of Arts & Sciences (SAS) ¨ Cook College is now the School of Environmental & Biological Sciences (SEBS) ¨ n n n Core requirements remain unchanged from current core All majors remain the same Students should finish Math & Science while at MCC 5 residential campus options available: Busch, College Ave. , Cook, Douglass, & Livingston ¨ SAS students must complete a minor. ¨ 13

RUTGERS n School of Arts & Sciences (SAS) cont. n n n Per RU: “The new SAS Core Requirements are such that virtually all courses recommended for a transfer program to one of the previous liberal arts colleges (Douglass, Livingston, Rutgers, & University College – will fit into the new requirements, although the courses may be in different categories. ” SAS changes will not affect students transferring to RU for Spring ’ 07. SAS changes will take effect beginning with entering class for Fall ’ 07. 15
n RU Business School New Brunswick ¨ ¨ ¨ No changes as far as the new SAS Admits in the fall term only. Concentrations: Management, Finance, Accounting, MIS, or Marketing Liberal Arts – Business works best. Students must first be admitted to SAS before applying to Business School. Prerequisites for admission: Competitive admission requiring 3. 2 gpa or higher. n At least 54 college credits n MAT 131, MAT 285, ACC 101 & 102, ECO 201 & 202, and CSC 106 – all with C or better n 16
