Workstation Hardware Information • All workstations are VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) devices Virtual instance of a computer from a server Slow login as each attempt counts as your first All changes made to computer are reverted at logoff • Quick performance once logged in • Internet dependent (if network is down devices will not login) • • •
Workstation Identification • Cybrary Workstations • Universally accessible by any UB student, capable of all the standard functions of a UB Lab Computer • Four stations located on the 6 th floor • Can only print to the 2 nd floor Public i. Law and University Go. Print Client • Go. Print is a popup that will launch when printing from workstation whether it be Law or University • When printing from a Law Workstation to a University Printer, this popup does will appear, but your job will not be displayed for release. • This popup will allow you to confirm, release and pay for the print jobs from the workstation you are sitting
Quota Identification • University Quota • Print allowance given to all enrolled UB students • Law School Quota • Print allowance given to all enrolled Law School students • Campus Cash • Print allowance that you can refill with your own money, universally accessible • If refilling, allow for 24 hours processing
Quota Amounts and Allocation • Both UB and Law accounts receive the same amounts in the Fall, Spring, and Summer • • • Fall: $32. 50 each Spring: $32. 50 each Summer: $10. 00 each • Accounts are filled for the new Fall semester on August 1 st and unused quotas are rolled over to the Spring semester and then again to the Summer session, only resetting on August 1 st 2015 Fall Semester $32. 50 Roll Over Spring Semester $32. 50 $65. 00 Roll Over Summer Session $10. 00 $75. 00 Reset August 1 st 2016 Fall Semester $32. 50

Scanning on 7 th Floor • The printer on the 7 th floor is capable of scanning single and multi-page documents. Scan custom sizes for books or non-legal documents. • Book scan and single scans can be cumbersome, these types of scans are best suited to the scan station in 221 b or the 6 th floor alcove • Requires a valid email address • Defaulted file type is PDF • Directions are available at the printer itself and online • Cannot make copies
Scanning on Scan Stations • Scan Stations on the 2 nd and 6 th floor capable of scanning single page documents. Can scan custom sizes for books or non-legal documents very easily. • Multiple outputs • Scan to email, USB, barcode, cloud • Can scan as many file extensions • Cannot make copies

Other Information and Best Practices • Save work locally or to a network location and print from inside original software • Pdf – Adobe Reader • Doc – Word • Keep track of quotas and switch between them as needed • Dual degree students should speak to IT for computer access • When in doubt reboot • Use other libraries and buildings. While you may enjoy O’Brian other buildings have similar or even additional features • Never provide credentials to a “UB” email requesting them • Allow time for printing
