Florida education cuts are causing lost jobs, and some schools are even shutting down. Students will struggle under these detrimental cuts. With educational cuts, schools can't afford to pay for teacher positions as usual. With these rough times coming up, most teachers will have to suffer through a 5 percent salary cut. Also, the Florida Education Association predicts that schools will be forced to freeze or cut teacher positions or pay. An average teacher makes about $46, 708 a year, so a 5 percent decrease would cost them $2, 335 a year. To make things worse, some teachers haven't had a pay raise in at least three years. Without teachers, schools will endure hard times.
