BRIEF SUMMARY I Am Legend is a post-apocalyptic horror film that was directed by Francis Lawrence in 2007. The movie was based on the novel I Am Legend which was written by Richard Matheson in 1964. The movie starts off with Robert Neville who is a scientist that tries to find a cure to a virus that was meant to cure cancer. Neville experiments on infected rats as he pursues finding a cure to the virus. Neville lost his family in a helicopter explosion and the only companion he really has is Sam, his dog. One day as Neville and Sam are out in the streets of Grand Central Terminal, they are attacked by a pack of infected dogs. One of the infected dogs bites Sam. Neville tries to cure Sam but his efforts have no effect. Sam starts to mutate and Neville is forced to strangle her to death. Furious, Neville starts killing mutants and even though he killed many, the mutants overpower him to the point where they almost kill him. He is saved by Anna and Ethan, survivors that listened to Neville’s radio recordings in search of other survivors. The next night, an alpha male takes an infected mob to Neville’s house. The alpha male attacks Neville and the infected darkseekers go upstairs. When Neville finds Anna and Ethan, he takes them to the laboratory. There they seal themselves in a glass room where the darkseekers can’t get in. The darkseekers then start trying to break through the glass. Meanwhile, Neville discovers that his experiment on an infected woman is working. He trys to tell the darkseekers that he can cure them too but it is too late. Neville knows that the Dark seekers aren’t going to stop so he decides to give Anna a vile with the infected woman’s blood and he shuts her and Ethan inside a coal chute. Neville then detonates a grenade. Anna and Ethan arrive at the survivor’s home and hands over the vile. Anna then describes that vile is a part of Neville’s legacy.
