Ontario University Admission Requirements ■ High school diploma required. ■ Minimum overall average of 60% (most have higher admission averages). ■ SIX Gr. 12 “U” or “U/C” (M) courses ■ English 4 U is a MUST for almost all programs. (Included in the SIX 4 U’s/M’s). ■ Plus what other prerequisites are listed for you Post Secondary program. ■ Check for courses with the same first 5 characters —Universities do not recognize these as different courses (e. g. TDJ 4 M 2, TDJ 4 M 3)

Are you Ready to Go? ■ Do you know what program you are interested in? Passion/strength (What marks do you need? ) Make a plan. . . what grades are reasonable in each of your 6 classes - keep a goal in each class to maintain the overall average ■ Have you looked at prerequisites needed for the program? Compared school s(fees, prerequisites) ■ Have you visited the schools you are interested in applying to? University Program Planning ■ In general, there are 4 main types of programs at most universities: ➢Arts/Humanities/Social Sciences(B. A. ) ➢Life/Health Sciences(B. Sc. ) ➢Physical/Engineering Sciences(B. Eng. ) ➢Business/Commerce(B. Commerce) CO-OP(OFFERED NOT GUARANTEE) ➢You are applying to Undergraduate Degree Programs (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Fine Arts etc. ) 3 Years – 4 years(4 YEARS HONORS PROGRAM)

OUAC - 101 Student ■ Ontario University Application Centre ■ The central spot your marks go to ■ OUAC sends info out to your university choices ■ All the info you need – questions, scholarships, fees, etc ■ www. ouac. on. ca Click on the 101 student. Once there go to the right side and click on the HOW TO VIDEOS. This will walk you through the steps of applying.

University Fees-OUAC ■ ■ ■ Ontario University Application Centre requires a fee of $150. 00 to accompany the application. The application allows for 3 choices for the $150 fee. Any university choices beyond 3 requires an additional $50. 00 per choice. Unlimited choices BUT max 3 programs at one university. NO charge for changing program at a university by the date of FEB 4 Visa, Master. Card, Amex, online banking (OUAC will give you acct #) Application not processed until you PAY

Check, Read, Check! Once you have applied check: *that your marks are correct * if you have to do supplementary Application (always a good idea) *if you need portfolio/audition *keep yourself organizedfolder Your offers will come on OUAC and also directly from school. You accept on OUAC

Second Semester Those students who will leave after Sem 1: ■ You must be responsible for your own application. ■ Check in periodically with Guidance for Graduation information ■ ILC/Private school courses will not be added automatically—You must come to guidance with proof of enrollment so we may add courses to your OUAC application. Check to ensure courses added. ■ Night/Summer School Courses - make sure t hese are added to your OUAC application ■ Fill in Not Returning Form

University Program Planning WHY A COLLABORATIVE PROGRAM? ■ ■ Time saved to follow pathway Money saved as a result of reduced time (as opposed to finishing one program and starting “from scratch” at another institution) Possible way for high school student to attain prerequisites (e. g. currently taking College type courses and decided he/she wants to become a teacher traditionally requires University credits) Employment expectations expanded -more employable with both theoretical and practical experience

University Timelines Con’t ■ Jan. 15 2021. - Deadline to submit online applications to OUAC and all applicable fees. ■ May 27, 2021 – Latest date to receive a response from universities ■ June 1, 2021 - Confirmation of acceptance must be made to university and earliest date universities can ask for financial commitment

Kay Endowment Trust Fund • A graduating student continuing their education in a Canadian College or University • Student has financial need • 70% overall average in their best eight senior level courses • Applications available through Mrs. Kordez in April 2020

Out of Province Schools ■ ■ ■ Let us Know You must contact the school yourself and complete the application by the due date (even if it’s one of the out of province schools listed below) We will help you with the application Start NOW and watch for Deadlines Must contact Mrs. Sadler for submission of January final grades, second semester midterms, and finals (mid-July). These will not be done automatically! (Unless you are applying to Acadia, Bishop’s, Concordia, Mc. Gill, UBC, U of Vic, Simon Fraser U, U of Calgary, Saint Mary’s University and Dalhousie— special agreements made with OUAC)
