How a school becomes IB Interested School: Each school must file as an interested school for one year prior to making application for candidacy. The main focus during this time is securing support from the community and district. Candidate School: The school must establish that it has the required components in place to implement the programme. That is, financial support, staffing, scheduling, training, curriculum development. The is working toward becoming an IB World School. Authorized School: Application has been submitted to become authorized, components to implement the programme have been met, and an on site visit has been conducted. Authorization comes from IB World office in Cardiff, Wales. The school may call itself an IB World School. 3
