Humidity Evaporation The loss of water by the

Humidity → Evaporation습도-증산 • • • The loss of water by the leaves is determined by the difference in vapour pressure between leaf and air. Evaporation is need to cool down the temperature of the leaves Evaporation is need for the uptake of Ca because the transportation goes with the evaporation flow (Xyleme) 10% of water uptake is fixed in biomass 10%의 수분은 세포의 비대에 발달에 고정 The evaporation is determined by radiation-air temperature – humidity of the greenhouse air – leafsurface and number- size and opening of the stomata. Stomata close more with lower humidity but vapour pressure deficit increases with lower humidity → bigger effect of VPD gives higher evaporation

Stomata opening기공의 열림 • • • Stomata opening is determined by radiation – humidity of the air – CO 2 concentration – leaf temperature – availability of water 기공의 개폐는 광-대기중습도-이산화탄소 농도-엽온-유용수분에 의해 결정 Stomata more open with higher humidity 높은습도에서 기공은 많이열림 For Tomatoes: 토마토 stomata opening 기공의 열림은 주로 광과 수증기압차이에 의해 depends mainly on radiation and VPD Long period high humidity: → more stomata → bigger (paprika) 장기간 높은 습도는 기공은 많이 열리고 기공의 수도 증가하고 크진다. The differences are small and give no difference in conductivity for water vapour en CO 2→ effect of humidity to photosynthesis not influenced by size and number of stomata

Effect Humidity on Photosynthesis 습과 광합성 • Effect is through the stomata 기공을 통한 효과 • Short period hight humidity 짧은시기 높은습 → more stretching 절간길어짐 → bigger leaves 엽이 크짐 → higher PS 높은 광합성량 • Short period low humidity 짧은시기 낮은 습도 → stomata close more 기공많이 닫힘 → lower conductivity 낮은 전도력 → lower photosynthesis 낮은 광합성량 • Longer time high humidity 장기간 높은습도 → leaves become smaller (lack of calcium)칼슘부족으로 엽장이 적 어짐 → internodes shorter 절간이 짧아짐 → lower LAI → lower phothosynthesis엽면적이 적음-낮은광합성 량

Ca uptake 칼슘흡수 • • • Humidity influences the water transport on 2 ways습도는 2가 지로 수분의 이동에 영향 – Higher humidity: evaporation lower – xyleme sap to upper plant parts lower – 높은 습도 : 증산량감소-작물로의 물관부수액적음 – Higher humidity night: increases root pressure – 높은습도야간 : 근압의 상승 Uptake of most nutients is active process. 대부분의 양분의 흡수는 능동적으로 흡수 Except Calcium : uptake is mostly passive 칼슘은 제외 : 수동적으로 흡수가 이루어짐 Hight humdity 높은습도 → low evaporation낮은 증산량 → low amount of calcium in the leaf엽에 적음 칼슘의 함량 → smaller leaves 엽이 적어짐

Distribution of sugars and production 당의 이동과 수확량 • • • With higher humidity the production decreases 높은습도도 수확량을 감소 Due to lower LAI – lower [Ca] – symtoms of Ca-deficiency

Humidity influence on health + quality 습도의 영향 = 품질과 내병 • Botrytis: spores germinate with RH > 93% and 15°C>T°>25°C • 곰팡이 : 포자의 발아조건은 습이 93%이상, 온도가 15에서 25사 이 • High Humidity: stomata more open 높은 습도: 기공을 많이 오픈 → easy damage by high [CO 2] 고농도의 이산화탄소 쉽게 장해 • High humidity → shorter shelflife 저장성이 짧아짐 높은습도 → fruits quicker soft 쉽게 물러짐 • Low humidity → lower fresh weight 생체중의 감소 낮은습도 → higher dry matter 높은 건물중 • Low humidity → more Ca to leaf → more ber • 낮은습도-보다 많은 칼슘이 엽으로 이동- 배꼽썩이 발생증가 • Hight humidity→ more Ca to fruits → golden spots • 높은 습도- 많은 칼슘이 과실로 이동- 칼슘집적

Humidification by fog 포그에 의한 가습 • Too low humidity → closing stomata • 너무낮은 습도- 기공을 닫게 함 • Mist → stomata open more → more PS
