Immune (lymphatic) System ► Structures: white blood cells: ► Function: helps protect the body from disease ► Vaccines are involved with the immune system by developing resistance (antibodies) towards a pathogen T 4, T 8, helper T cell
Circulatory System ► Structures: heart, blood, hemoglobin ► Function: brings oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to cells
Respiratory System ► Structures: lungs nose, ► Function: provides O 2 and removes excess CO 2 from the body ► Lung issues? Asthma, etc.
Excretory System ► Structures: kidneys ► Function: eliminates waste (urine) to maintain homeostasis ► Urine flow starts in the kidneys, moves down the ureters into the urinary bladder and out of the body through the urethra
Muscular System ► Structures: all muscle ► Function: works with skeletal system to move ► Helps to circulate blood and move food through the digestive system (peristalsis)
Integumentary System ► Structures: skin ► Function: serves as a barrier against infection and injury ► Helps to regulate body temperature
Nervous System ► Structures: brain, spinal cord, nerves ► Function: controls all other body systems, etc. Brain cell
Digestive System ► Structures: mouth, stomach, small and large intestine, rectum ► Function: breaks down food; absorbs nutrients and water; eliminates wastes as feces
Endocrine System ► Structures: ► Function: hormones controls growth development and metabolism; maintains homeostasis
Reproductive System ► Structures: male and female parts ► Function: gametes ► In produce females, nurtures and protects a developing baby
