Notebook Pages & Titles 43 – Human Body General Learning Targets 44 – Digestive System 45 – Skeletal System 46 – Muscular System 47 - Nervous System 48 – Respiratory System 49 – Circulatory System 50 – Excretory System 51 – Endocrine System

43 - Learning Targets 1. I can identify the main function of each human body system. 2. I can list the major organs (parts) present in each human body system. 3. I can analyze diagrams of human body systems.

44 – Parts of the Digestive System Mouth – Teeth and Saliva Esophagus Stomach Intestines Pancreas

44 - Digestive System Main Function • Breaks down food through mechanical and chemical digestion • Food breaks down into nutrients that can be absorbed by the blood.

45 - Skeletal System Parts: • Bones, Ligaments, Joints Main Function: • Protects internal organs • Works with muscular system to create locomotion • Bones produces blood cells!

46 - Muscular System Parts: • Skeletal, smooth, cardiac muscles Main Function: • Works with skeletal system to create locomotion • Maintains posture • Provides strength

47 – Parts of the Nervous system

47 - Main Function Nervous system • Controls all body functions • Receives signals from 5 5 senses (INPUT) • Sends signals to body (OUTPUT)

48 – Parts of the Respiratory System Nose Throat/ Trachea Mouth Lungs

48 – Main Function Respiratory System • Exchange gases with atmosphere • Absorb in oxygen, excrete carbon dioxide • Create ENERGY!

49 – Parts of the Circulatory System Heart Ve. IN (IN to heart) Artery (Away from heart)

49 – Main Function Circulatory System • Circulates (pumps) blood and nutrients around the body • Arteries carry blood with Oxygen away from the heart, to the body. • Veins carry blood with Carbon Dioxide back to the heart from the body.

50 - Excretory System Kidneys Main function: • Filter blood • Remove waste from body Bladder

50 - Endocrine System Parts: glands (tissues that release hormones/chemicals) Main function: releasing hormones that control growth, metabolism, reproduction
