�Students who graduate from secondary school in British Columbia at the end of Grade 12 receive a British Columbia Certificate of Graduation (or Dogwood Diploma). �This credential is recognized internationally and accepted by postsecondary institutions worldwide such as Harvard, Yale, Oxford, and Cambridge. There are three main components to complete: ◦ Personal Health ◦ Community Connections ◦ Career and Life Students also must complete 30 hours of volunteer experience between the summer after grade 9 and the end of May in their graduating year. Ms. Lindsay will oversee and track this program for Grades 10 & 11 this year. Grad Transitions…
�A Numeracy and Literacy provincial exam must be completed by all students before they finish Grade 12 �They each have three chances to take the test �The Numeracy exam will be written by our Grade 11’s for the first time in June 2018 �Questions include multiple choice questions and short answer questions �The provincial Literacy exam is still being created and will be written by the Grade 11 class in their Grade 12 year (2018 -19) Provincial Numeracy and Literacy Exams
Transition Planning
�Career Ed 9, Planning 10 and Graduation Transitions Curriculum �Ms. Heyam (Counsellor) will be working to counsel students about post-secondary choices and connecting our school with local post-secondary institutions �Georgetown University and Qatar University will make presentations to Grade 10 and 11 students in early October. �Local Career Fairs will be visited Transition Planning
