HUBBLE TELESCOPE BY STUDENT
THE HISTORY OF THE HUBBLE TELESCOPE This Hubble Telescope launched back in 1990 from the space shuttle Discovery. It was named after the scientist Edwin Hubble. The goal of the Hubble Telescope was to gather light from cosmic objects so that scientists have a better understanding of our universe. The Hubble Telescope was the first major optical telescope to be placed in space. It has made over 1. 3 million observations of galaxies, planets, and stars. For example, it captured photos of 5 moons around Pluto. It has also captured pictures of stars dying.
HUBBLE TELESCOPE The Hubble Telescope focuses on infrared light and ultraviolet light in the electromagnetic spectrum. This telescope was built to observe distant stars, planets, and even galaxies in our solar system. It is located in space, and it was chosen because space has an unobstructed view of the universe. This makes it different from other telescopes on Earth because the telescopes on Earth have to deal with light pollution and the atmosphere. However, It is similar to other telescopes because it can see things at a great distance.
The Primary Mirror SIZE OF MIRRORS The primary mirror on the Hubble Telescope has a diameter of 94. 5 inches, and it weighs 1, 825 lbs.
