One. View Overview - Terminology Enclosure ü A physical structure that can contain server blades, infrastructure hardware , and interconnects. ü Provides the hardware connections between the interconnect downlinks and the installed server blades. Server Hardware ü An instance of HP Pro. Liant BL server blades installed in enclosures and Pro. Liant DL rack mount servers. ü Server blades are automatically detected by the appliance when the enclosure is added. ü Rack servers must be added manually to the appliance. Server Profile ü The configuration for a server instance. ü You can create hardware server profiles to provision hundreds or thousands of servers as easily as you provision one server. ü Server profiles capture the entire server configuration in one place, enabling you to consistently replicate new server profiles and to rapidly modify them to reflect changes in your data center. Firmware ü The combination of a hardware device, computer instructions and data that reside as read only software on that device. ü Using the firmware management features built in to the appliance, you can define firmware baselines and perform firmware updates across many resources. 4 © Copyright 2015 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.
