Howard Gardner… �Noted psychologist from Harvard University � 1983 – Gardner presented his theory in Frames of Mind: Theory of Multiple Intelligences �Original hypothesis about multiple intelligences proposed seven intelligences �Has added additional proposed intelligences �Challenges the traditional concept of IQ
The theory of Multiple Intelligences proposes… �We can be seen as possessing a wider variety of aptitudes or abilities than the traditional IQ model �Intelligence is not static – it changes, grows and can be strengthened �There could be dozens, perhaps hundreds of intelligences; Gardner has just begun the research �Each intelligence holds sub-intelligences (ex. musical intelligence – perhaps high in some areas, but not all)
