Who was Spartacus • • Spartacus was a Thracian gladiator Born 109 B. C and died in 79 B. C A slave leader in the Third Servile War He saved over 70 slaves and brought them to freedom.
What did Spartacus do • In 73 B. C he escaped from a gladiator school in Capua along with 70 other gladiators. Other runaway slaves joined him and they went to Mount Vesuvius. • Alabama Virtual Library!

How was Boys life in the family ? • Boys were considered more valuable than girls in the family. • Boys in age six-teen was considered to be a men and they wore a good luck charm (Bulla) since he was a baby. • Dedicated to a special ceremony to the household gods.

What was family life like? • The head of the Roman family life was the oldest living male called the paterfamilias. He will look after the family’s business affairs and property. They had absolute rule over his household and children. He has the legal right to disown his children, sell them into slavery or even killed them. Many families lived in their own house. If it was a big town many would live in apartment or rooms they rented. Most cities were divide in into regular blocks by streets and alleyways. What was Roman daily life like? Jayla, Alandria, Jasha, Diana
Jayla Vance • Schools • One of the most important things of Ancient Rome was their education but it was all based on riches. So, if you had money, you were well educated. For the poor people, there was no education but they still learned to read and write. This was for everyone but as you can guess the boys had an advantage. They were in schools, the girls were not allowed to attend.
Jayla Vance • Selling & Trade • To Ancient Rome, trading was very vital. The Roman empire had numerous amounts of it, especially the seas. There was the Mediterranean, Ostia, Tiber, and Black waterways for selling and trading. There were land areas for trading too, but not as much trading there. The Romans trade goods such as beef, corn, iron, glassware, leather, marble, ect. There main trading parters were France, Spain, Middle east, & Africa.
DAILY LIFE BY Alandria Gardner 1. Their daily life was based off their homes. Mothers and daughters took care of the house daily while the other children were at school. They made clothes, baked food, and traded goods. Women wore the stola which are long robes of linen and a cloak on top called a palla. Men wore togas over their cloak.
DAILY LIFE by Alandria Gardner • Most rich people stayed in villas. They were three parts which were the first one and the middle one. The one in the middle had tiles and a peristyle. It had columns, flowers, and fountains. Slaves took are of the houses for them.
Foods • Rich Romans had food cooked at home in the kitchen by slave. Most ate a light breakfast, and a snack at mid day- perhaps bread and cheese, or boiled eggs and a salad. They ate dinner in late afternoon, with a starter, a meat course (such as hare, pig , beef , goat, chicken, fish or pigeon) followed by fruit or nuts. Poor Romans ate bread, vegetables soup, and porridge. Meat was a luxury, unless they lived in the countryside and could go hunting of fishing. Poor people’s small homes had no kitchens. So they often took food round to the baker, to cook in his oven. Jasha
Where they lived • A rich Roman house had many rooms including kitchen, bath, dining, bedrooms and rooms for slaves. A long covered porch, or verandah, with a aw wall and pillars, was built along the front of the house to keep the rooms cool in the summer. Poor Romans lived in simple flats. How was roman Daily Life? • Roman would clean their cloths with vinegar because they thought that it get’s all Greece out they would get water from what they called a water fountain they would get all water their food or event hey would wash cloths there but they mostly needed the water for cooking washing cleaning their houses others just wanted it to drink out of it because they were thirsty. How was roman Daily Life? • Wealthy Romans was an easy life for them because they did not have to do anything only Roman slaves had to do all dirty jobs. Roman slaves had to sleep with their masters even though they did not want to. They had to do all chores for their masters clean, wash, and cook for their masters.
