What is the purpose? • To provide the data which have been collected in the research.

What is the content of the result? • Quantitative: this part is usually numerical. • Qualitative: it usually presents general discussion of the research findings without going into too much detail.

What tense is used? • Simple past tense: the result of the study • Simple present tense: General statement

What are the styles of writing? If the result of the research: • Only one finding : an author can write it directly without any heading. • More than one result: it is better to subdivide the result part into several headings.

How long the result part in a research paper? • The length of the result part is various, depending on the aims of the research.

What is the purpose? • To discuss the results of the research, its interpretation as well as the implication of the research.

What tense is used in writing the discussion? • Theories, literature review or previous studies are usually written in the form of simple present tense, whereas the author’s work is stated in the form of past. simple

What are the style of discussion? • The elaboration of the research findings is presented under the same heading.

How long is the discussion? • It depends on the aims and the result. However, the length is generally up to 1500 words.
