How to Write a New Book
-Step One. Ideas • Think about the following questions: – How long is your story going to be? /What genre(s) are you going to categorize your story in? – Do you know what the conflict the characters will be facing in the story? – What will be the cause of the conflict? – How will all the characters come together? – What will they do? – How will they react around one another? /How are they contributing to the story? – What do you want to happen in the end of the story? – What are the characters trying to achieve? Will and how will they achieve it? – Who is trying to stand in their way? /What obstacles are they going to face? – What is your inspiration for this story? /Why are you writing this story?
-Step Two. Beginning Thoughts • How would you like to start your story off? – Where would you like it to take place? (Place, year, future/past/present, etc. ) – When is your conflict going to come into the story? (Chapter, middle of the __ paragraph, after ____)
-Step Three. Choosing Your Main Characters • Find a first name for your first main character – How? • You can go onto any website that gives different names used all over the world today. – Example: http: //www. babynamescountry. com » Look for different meanings you want your characters to possess, or different origins you want your character’s background to be from. • Now, do the same process for choosing last names. TIP: Try mixing and matching the first names with the last names and attempt to create a full name. (Choosing middle names are optional)
-Step Three. The Main Characters Part 1: Choosing the Main Characters • Choose several full names you think you could be portrayed in the story. – Abrial Dawson – Myles Houstin – Reyna Kissenger – Corrine Kholie – Talia Craley – Adrienne Phlaten – Clarence Jostuan

-Step Four. Choosing the Setting • Where is your story going to take place at? • If you are basing a character off of yourself or a person you know, try to find a place that is similar to where the actual person is from. • Experiment: » Search for a place that pops into your head in Google or Bing, and do some research on that place. » Make up your own city/state/country/world/etc. * Make sure that the environment can coordinate * * with some of the ideas you have for the story. *
