How to write a comic script
Introduction Before you begin to create your comic, you have to come up with a good story. The following tips will help you to do that.
Make sure your comic follows the story arc which you see here. It will make your comic more exciting to read!
Step 1: Create a plot line Exposition • Where does your story take place? Who are your characters and how do you introduce them to your readers? Which problem do they have to solve? Rising action & climax How does the problem become much worse or serious? Falling action & resolution How do they solve the problem?
Step 2: Plan the script • How many panels do we need and what do we see? • Which captions do we need? • Which dialogues do we need? Organise your ideas in a table. This will make it easier for you to design your comic. For example, it could look like this:
<< Title of your comic >> Plot line The story takes place in a mysterious forest … Panel description Panel 1: Picture of mysterious forest; must look spooky Panel 2: Picture of mysterious forest, scarecrow behind a tree Caption Not far away from Edinburgh there is a mysterious forest. Rumour has it that a monster lives there. It kills anyone who dares to enter the forest… Dialogue No dialogue … … … No dialogue
Step 3: Design your comic Once you are happy with your script, go online and design your comic. Your teacher will tell you which site to use.
