HOW TO USE THESE SLIDES These slides are intended to be used by resident champions in presenting the HEALTHY LIVING workshop to their community as part of the “DCHA Healthy & Sustainable Communities program”. These slides are customizable and are meant to be adjusted to fit the needs of your community; please review the content and images and change as you feel necessary to best fit your community’s goals, wishes, and experience. There are further guidelines in the “Notes” section at the bottom of each individual slide. These guidelines provide information on how to present the slide, customize it, or find more information to better prepare you for leading the workshop. When you are ready to present the slides, go to “SLIDE SHOW” along the top bar of this document and select “From Beginning” on the far left. This should cause the slides to go into presentation mode. Spray on and use newspaper or a lint free cloth to wipe off.

HOME MADE GREEN RECIPES Deodorize Air Freshener - Plastic food storage containers: soak - Baking soda or vinegar with lemon juice in small dishes to absorb odors - Having houseplant helps reduce odors in the home - Prevent cooking odors by simmering vinegar (1 Tbsp. in 1 cup water) on the stove while cooking - Keep fresh coffee grounds on counter - Simmer water and cinnamon or other spices on stove - Place bowls of fragrant dried herbs and flowers in room overnight in warm water and baking soda - In-sink garbage disposals: grind up lemon and orange peel Laundry Powder ½ cup soap flakes / grated bar soap ½ cup borax ½ cup washing soda Combine ingredients well & store in an airtight lid. Use ½ to 1 Tbsp. per load.
