• The first step is to get on vlab • Go to the U of S website • Search for “vlab” • The click onto it
• Log into vlab • Using your NSID and password
• Find SPSS 26 • Type in search “SPSS”
• Open SPSS 26
• Close the Window • What appears is a window where data can be typed in
• To open data • Go to File-> Open -> Data
• Specify the file type – “Excel” • Find and open the file that contains the data
If you select Opening an existing file and press OK the following dialogue box appears

If the variable names are in the file ask it to read the names. If you do not specify the Range the program will identify the Range: Once you “click OK”, two windows will appear

To perform any statistical Analysis select the Analyze menu:
Then select Regression and Linear.
The following Regression dialogue box appears
Select the Dependent variable Y.
Select the Independent variables X 1, X 2, etc.
If you select the Method - Enter.
All variables will be put into the equation. There also several other methods that can be used : 1. Forward selection 2. Backward Elimination 3. Stepwise Regression
