How to start a conversation? Self introduction Say “hi, how are you? ” and introduce yourself. Talk about food. * I’m not familiar with this dish. Do you know what’s in it? * Wow, this food looks amazing. Do you enjoy it? Pay someone a compliment * I like you outfit. It looks stylish. * Your hairstyle is cool.
What to talk about next? * Avoid subjects that could potentially cause fights. (religion or politics) * Topics easy for most people to join in, not with limited subjects. Not so personal that anyone would feel uncomfortable. * Possible topics: food, attractions in Taipei/Taiwan, sports and games (there also coaches, sports guards, and other staff), staying in Taipei (weather, traffic…), personal experience in the UK, school life
