How to form the Present Perfect Tense
The present perfect tense is the tense you use when you want to talk about an action that has been completed (i. e. “I have finished my homework. ”). Forming the present perfect in Spanish is very easy. It is a two-step process. The first step is to write the correct form of the verb “haber”, according to the subject. Here are the forms of “haber”: yo he tú has Ud. /él/ella ha nosotros hemos Uds. /ellos/ellas han
The second step is to remove the –ar, -er, or –ir from the ending of the infinitive, and add “-ado” if the verb is an –ar verb and “ -ido” if the verb is an –er or –ir verb. I have studied. (estudiar) She has eaten. (comer) We have listened. (escuchar) They have lived in L. A. (vivir) Yo he estudiado. Ella ha comido. Nosotros hemos escuchado. Ellos han vivido En L. A.
Let’s do some examples. Write the correct present perfect form of the given verb. Remember – it’s a two-part process. The answer will appear after 10 seconds. Juan ha comido una pizza. (comer) Ellos han cantado una canción. (cantar) Tú has recibido una carta. (recibir) Nosotros hemos estudiado español. (estudiar)
