How to Create a Proper Body Copy
What is a body copy? • 7 to 10 complex sentences. • It will have information on the topic that you are covering. • It is the only time you will have to write an excessive amount (your captions should NOT be near a body copy’s length)
What questions do you ask? • Come up with questions before you go meet someone. • Try to think of direct questions to get “meatier” answers. • Most of the time people will give you cute and short answers like “it was fun” or “because I like it. ” • The trick to that is …. To fill in the rest.
Quick Tips • Add detail!!!!!! • Use adjectives. Descriptive words can go a long way in a body copy or a caption. In this class they are your best ally. • Focus on either a main event or one person. • Try not to get “flighty”. • Basing your story off of a person can help you concentrate on the main point.
Examples • Question: What song do you listen to before you play the game? • Their answer: Turn Down For What. • Yearbook Translation: I listen to Turn Down For What by _______ because it makes me excited.
Partners • • Miranda and Morgan Cooper and Kacy Natalie and Xavier Taleiah and Austin Jabaria and Rebecca W. Haley and Ania Courtney and Jacob
Instructions • While you are with your partner I want you to ask them about themselves. • Ask them about what they did over the summer. Ask what their future plans are, what they like to do, or even what their favorite sport is. In short, you are creating a body copy about your partner’s life. • When you finish talking with your partner, use your notes to write a draft of your body copy. (You will turn the draft in to Mrs. Gay after you present to the class. )
